Lab question: How Does a change in a forest color affect the population of Lemon Peppered Moth?
Hypothesis: If i (bird) eat all the dark moths on the light force forest , then the dark moth population will decrease , and the light moths will increase because the light moth camouflages with the trees and it is harder to see them in the day light.
Iv: Forest Color (Dark/Light)
Dv: Population of lemon peppered moth
Data:
DSET:
My claim is that in the light forest, the population of the light moths increased more than the population of the dark moths. As you can see in the first graph the population of the light moths was 78% and you see it increased because at first the population of the light moths was 50% , while the population of the dark moths was only 22% and it decreased because at first the population of the dark moths was also 50%. As you can see the color of the MOTHS affects the population. The scientific reasoning behind this is that is called Natural Selection. Natural selection is one of the basic mechanisms of evolution , along with mutation, migration, and genetic drift. Also Not all individuals get to reproduce to their full potential ,this is causing the Population of the lemon peppered moths decrease or increase since its in a dark and light forest.
